GENEVA — The Finger Lakes Workforce Investment Board has named Abtex, located in Dresden, September’s “Business of the Month,” recognizing the company’s continuing contributions to the local economy.

Abtex manufactures a full range of deburring and surface-treatment systems that are designed to address customer applications. Over the past 20-plus years, it has expanded its product line as well as its line of machinery. To do so, the company has needed to recruit high-quality talent, and has partnered with the Finger Lakes Workforce Investment Board to do so. Whether it’s accessing the On the Job Training program to train workers or participating in any of the many recruiting events offered, Abtex takes full advantage of the services offered through Finger Lakes Works.

“As advanced manufacturing companies continue to compete for market share, providing local employers with tools to find and develop their work force has become critical,” said Karen Springmeier, executive director, Finger Lakes Workforce Investment Board, in a press release. “Abtex recognizes the value of a highly skilled work force and works closely with the Finger Lakes Workforce Investment Board to achieve a high standard of workforce development within their organization.”
